For example, China's "Controllable Power Electromagnetic Launcher" (electromagnetic gun) can achieve a one-click switch from low-power non-lethal subjugation to high-power penetrating strikes by adjusting the current, allowing for flexible responses in complex scenarios such as counter-terrorism and stability maintenance. Simultaneously, kinetic energy munitions will incorporate intelligent fuses and trajectory correction technology to improve hit rates and reduce the risk of friendly fire.

 

Deep Integration of Intelligent Sensing and Individual Soldier Systems: Riot control equipment is becoming a "digital warfare node," integrating sensors, communication, and display modules. For example, Dräger's FPS® In-Face Display (IMD) projects thermal images directly onto the goggles, enabling law enforcement officers to clearly identify their environment even in dense smoke or darkness. In the future, helmets, shields, and riot guns will commonly be equipped with miniature cameras, vital sign monitoring, GPS positioning, and 5G data transmission systems, enabling real-time coordination between the front and rear lines.

 

Lightweight, Efficient, and Integrated Design Becomes Widespread To enhance mobility and sustained combat capabilities, new materials and ergonomic designs will be widely applied. New riot suits utilize lightweight, high-strength materials such as high-molecular-weight polyethylene fibers, with a total weight below 7 kg, and meet GA 420-2021 standards. Key components can withstand 20J puncture and 120J impact. The future trend is to integrate protection, communication, and power supply modules into a single unit, reducing equipment weight and improving wearing comfort.

 

Green and Sustainable Development Considerations In the context of a "dual-carbon" environment, the environmental attributes of riot gear are receiving increasing attention. Bio-based composite materials and biodegradable protective components are currently being tested, and some companies have already achieved zero carbon emissions in their production processes through photovoltaic power generation. In the future, the carbon footprint of equipment throughout its entire lifecycle will become an important indicator for procurement and certification.
