Body Protection Vest Care And Maintenance Methods

The key to body protection vest care and maintenance lies in regular cleaning, avoiding direct sunlight, controlling usage frequency, and replacing it immediately after impact to ensure its protective performance remains at its best.

Even without obvious damage, the protective capability of a body protection vest will gradually decrease over time, due to environmental factors and usage frequency. Therefore, proper maintenance is crucial.

1. Regular Cleaning, Sectional Treatment

Outerwear Cleaning: The outer layer of the body protection vest is removable and machine washable. It is recommended to use a neutral detergent and select a gentle cycle and cold water mode on the washing machine to avoid deformation or shrinkage.

Bulletproof Layer (Chip/Instrument) Cleaning: Do not wash or soak. Use a soft cloth or sponge dampened with a small amount of neutral detergent to gently wipe surface stains, then wipe dry with a clean cloth and allow to air dry. Never use strong acid or alkaline cleaners or high-temperature drying, as this may damage the material structure.

2. Storage Environment: Cool and dry, avoid direct sunlight.

Bulletproof vests should be stored in a dry, ventilated environment at room temperature to prevent moisture from degrading material performance.

Direct sunlight or high-temperature baking is strictly prohibited. Ultraviolet rays and high temperatures will accelerate fiber aging and significantly reduce bulletproof effectiveness.

3. Use and Rotation: Reduce Continuous Load

Prolonged continuous wear will accelerate material fatigue. It is recommended to have two sets of bulletproof vests and rotate them to extend their overall lifespan.

When storing, hang or lay flat to avoid folding and heavy pressure that could damage the edges of the inserts.

4. Replace Immediately If Damaged: Safety First

Once hit by a bullet, regardless of whether the vest appears intact, it must be replaced immediately. Impact will cause damage to the microstructure of the bulletproof material; even if it is not visible to the naked eye, its protective ability will be significantly reduced.

If scratches, cracks, fabric wear, or seam separation are found in the bulletproof layer during routine inspections, use should be stopped and the manufacturer should be contacted for evaluation.
